Written in 1404, The City of the Treasure of Ladies offers a practical survival manual for women from princesses to prostitutes. The author, Christine de Pisan, born in 1365, was well known in her time but her works were ‘surprisingly neglected’ until recently. The text used in this work was translated from the medieval French.
